bleak day…

bleak day,

grief and pain settle

like a heavy mantle

upon our souls,

and there is nothing

we can do, nothing to be done…

+

bleak day,

how long your hours

of waiting, waiting

enduring, waiting…

+

if I could glimpse the flickering

flame of Holy Thursday hope

through the veil

of tears that haunts my eyes

that would be enough

to see me through…

+

but my heart is numb

with straining,

so I will wait, and cling to

what is left of love

and pour my grief

into these ointments

embalming myself

with their fragrant

consolation….

+

bleak day,

there is nothing to be done,

nothing…

About Sally C

How do I describe myself, I am not what I do, (I am a Methodist Minister), I am not who I am related to (I have 5 wonderful children, and 2 lovely granddaughters). I am a seeker truth, a partaker of life in all it's fullness and a follower, sometimes stumbling, sometimes celebrating of the Christian pathway. I seek wholeness, joy and a connectedness to all things through a deep reconciliation with the God whose love blows my socks off!
